Our Goals
Precision Blades will strive to be the most consistent skate maintenance center on the east side of Metro Detroit, offering professional quality skate sharpening and skate maintenance services. We are a member in good standing, and will exclusively utilize the Maximum Edge system for both sharpening and profiling; the same system currently used by several NHL teams.
We will promote the proper protection of our players through our Fresh Gear equipment sanitation unit and custom mouth guards.
We feel that our unmatched service to the local youth and adult hockey players will give them an "edge" over their competition and a safe place to develop their skills year round.
Our Partners
Whether you are looking for equipment, accessories, or performance apparel, here are some of the brands you’ll find at Precision Blades to help you up your game.
Our Owners
Paul Boyer
Co-owner of Precision Blades, Paul is currently in his 27th season as Head Equipment Manager of the Detroit Red Wings. Boyer joined the Wings for the 1994-95 season following one season with the New Jersey Devils. A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Paul earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management from Lake Superior State University where he spent 5 seasons as the Lakers Equipment Manager.
Boyer was honored in 2002 by being selected to work the NHL All Star game in Los Angeles, CA. He has served as the Equipment Manager for Team Canada in 2017 and 2019 in the IIHF’s World Championships. Boyer recently worked his 2000th NHL game.
Boyer is committed to bringing as much of the NHL to the Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores hockey communities by instituting those standards and his own experiences at Precision Blades.
Tom Gebeck, Jr. DDS MS
An orthodontist practicing in Birmingham, Michigan, Dr. Gebeck received his undergraduate degree from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN, and graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1993. He specialized in orthodontics and received his degree in 1995. Dr. Gebeck will coordinate the custom mouthguard fabrication, as well as offer the standard boil and bite product for those athletes who are not ready for the customized protection (baby teeth and braces).
Tom played hockey growing up in the city of Grosse Pointe and has great memories of those days. Years later, he now finds himself around the same local rinks with his children. Tom realized that the area needed a business to provide consistent skate sharpening with reasonable hours and found out another local hockey dad, Paul Boyer, had the same thoughts. In addition to skate maintenance, they knew the area could also benefit from training and skill development, and thus, Precision Blades was born. “I am proud to be a partner in Precision Blades and look forward to watching our local athletes benefit from the services we will provide.”
